Credits explained
Credits are the currency for Build mode turns. Chat and Plan mode turns are free up to a daily limit. Studio uses credits to meter AI builds, and every account starts with a generous free allowance.
Where credits come from
- Signup grant (one-time): 1,000 credits, applied once your email address is verified. This grant does not expire.
- Monthly allowance: 500 credits on the first day of each UTC month, on the free plan. These do not expire mid-month; they are replaced when the next month's allowance lands.
- Daily bonus: up to 50 bonus credits per active day, capped at 500 per UTC calendar month. Unused daily credits do not carry forward to the next month; they reset on the first of each month along with the monthly allowance.
Note
In the first month, the maximum credits available to a new free-plan account are: 1,000 (signup grant) + 500 (monthly allowance) + up to 500 (daily bonus) = 2,000. In subsequent months: 500 (monthly allowance) + up to 500 (daily bonus) = up to 1,000.
What does a Build turn cost?
A complete first-time app build typically costs a few hundred credits, depending on the size and complexity of the app. A small follow-up edit (changing a label, adding a field to one screen) costs considerably less. Auto-fixes and corrective retries that Studio runs on its own are not charged to your balance.
The exact cost is shown in the build receipt after each run. You can see your running balance and recent usage on Settings > Usage.
Free turns
Some turns cost zero credits:
- Chat and Plan turns. These never spend credits, up to the daily limit shown in the Studio UI (see Modes).
- Turns that produce no file changes. If the AI responds but does not edit any files, the turn is free.
- Automatic build-error fixes. When Studio detects a build error it introduced and runs a corrective pass to fix it, that corrective pass is not billed.
- Version restores. Restoring a previous version costs no credits (see Versions).
Free plan limits
- Up to 3 published sites on
*.mudbase.appsubdomains at a time. - Published sites show a small "Built with Mudbase Studio" badge. Upgrading to a paid plan removes it.
- Custom domains are available on paid plans only.
Running low?
When your balance reaches zero, new builds are blocked but your project and all generated files are safe. Nothing is deleted. Upgrade on the pricing page to top up with a larger monthly credit pool.
