Download code and GitHub push

Your project's source code always belongs to you. You can download it as a zip file at any time, or push it to a GitHub repository on a paid plan.

Download as zip

Open the project menu and choose Download code. Studio packages the current project source files (everything under the src/ tree and configuration files) into a zip archive and your browser downloads it.

The zip contains the generated source as it currently exists in Studio. It does not include node_modules, build output, or sandbox state. To run the project locally, unzip it, run npm install, and start the dev server.

Downloading the zip is available on all plans, including free.

GitHub push

Connecting your GitHub account lets Studio push your project directly to a GitHub repository. This is available on paid plans.

To connect GitHub, go to the project menu and choose Connect GitHub. You will be redirected to authorize Studio access to your GitHub account. After connecting, you can create a new repository or push to an existing one.

Note
The current GitHub integration pushes your project files to the repository. It is a one-way push from Studio to GitHub. Changes you make directly in GitHub are not automatically pulled back into Studio.

What is exported

Both the zip download and the GitHub push include the same files: your project source code, configuration files, and any static assets. Secrets stored in Cloud > Secrets are not included. The generated app reads them at runtime from environment variables; you will need to configure those variables yourself in whatever environment you deploy to outside of Studio.
