Studio
Connect a custom domain
Custom domains let you serve your Studio project from a domain you own instead of the default *.mudbase.app subdomain. Custom domains require a paid plan.
Add your domain
- Open the project workspace and go to Settings > Domains in the right-hand panel.
- Enter the domain you own (for example
app.example.com) and click Add domain. - Studio returns a TXT record. Add it to your DNS at your registrar to prove you own the domain. Copy the exact record name and value shown - they are unique to your project.
Point your DNS at Studio
In addition to the TXT record for ownership verification, you need a routing record so traffic reaches your project. Studio shows the record to add:
- For a subdomain (for example
app.example.com): add the CNAME record shown. - For an apex domain (for example
example.com): add the A and AAAA records shown. Most DNS providers support apex A records; check your registrar's documentation if you are unsure.
DNS changes can take a few minutes to an hour to propagate depending on your TTL settings.
Verify ownership
Once you have added the DNS records, return to Settings > Domains and click Verify DNS. Studio checks for the TXT record. If verification fails, wait a few minutes for propagation and try again.
HTTPS
When custom domain TLS is enabled on your plan, Studio provisions an HTTPS certificate automatically after DNS is verified. Certificate issuance usually completes within a few minutes. The domain status updates to Active when the certificate is in place and HTTPS is live.
If certificate issuance fails, check that the routing record (CNAME or A/AAAA) is published correctly and that no proxy is intercepting the connection at your registrar before retrying.
