Publishing your site

Publishing makes your app available at a permanent public URL. The preview panel is for you to review your app while building; publishing is what makes it live for others.

How to publish

  1. Open your project in Studio.
  2. Click Publish in the top bar or the overflow menu.
  3. Studio builds a production-ready version of your app. This takes about 2 minutes.
  4. When publishing finishes, your app is live at a URL on the mudbase.app domain, for example: yourappname.mudbase.app.

Republishing after changes

Every time you make edits and want those changes to go live, click Publish again. Each publish is independent. Your app stays live at the same URL during the process and is updated when the new version is ready.

Unpublishing

To take your app offline, open the overflow menu inside your project and choose Unpublish. The URL becomes inactive immediately. Your project and all its code remain in Studio. You can republish at any time.

Custom domains

On the Pro plan and above, you can connect your own domain name to a published app. The option is in your project settings under Domain. Point your domain's DNS records to the values shown there, then click Verify. Custom domains use HTTPS automatically.

If publishing fails

  1. Wait 60 seconds, then click Publish again. Most failures clear on a second attempt.
  2. If the button stays greyed out, wait a minute for the previous attempt to time out.
  3. If you see an error message, copy it and contact support at support@mudbase.dev.

What publishing does not do

Publishing does not affect the live preview. The preview and the published URL are separate. You can keep building and editing in the preview without taking down your published app.
