Stop and resume a build
You can stop a build at any point and continue later. Here is how it works.
Stopping a build in progress
While Studio is generating code, a Stop button appears in the chat panel. Click it to pause the current build turn. Studio stops as soon as it reaches a safe point in the generation. You will not be charged credits for a turn that was stopped before it completed.
When you might want to stop:
- You realise you described something incorrectly and want to rephrase.
- The build is going in the wrong direction.
- You want to take a break and come back later.
What happens to your work when you stop
Stopping does not delete anything. The project stays in whatever state it was in when you clicked Stop. Any code that was already written before you stopped is preserved.
Resuming or redirecting a build
After stopping, you have two options:
- Send a new prompt: Type a follow-up instruction in the chat panel. Studio starts a new build turn from the current state of the project. This is the most common approach if you want to adjust direction.
- Restart from the original idea: If the project is in a state you are not happy with, describe what you wanted from the beginning in a new prompt. Studio will rewrite from there.
If a build was interrupted by a system event
Occasionally a build is interrupted by a server restart rather than by you clicking Stop. When this happens, Studio detects the interruption and shows a Resume button in the chat panel. Clicking it starts a new build turn from the current saved state of your project. No credits are charged for the interrupted turn.
Closing the tab mid-build
If you close your browser tab while a build is running, the build continues in the background for a short time. When you return to Studio and re-open the project, the result will be there if it finished. If it did not finish, you will see the last saved state and can send a follow-up.
Credits and stopped builds
If you stop a build before it completes, you are not charged for that turn. Credits are only consumed when a turn finishes successfully.
